Two people were killed in a drive-by shooting Saturday in Somali capital Mogadishu, eyewitnesses have said.
“Two gunmen opened fire on a car in western Mogadishu, killing two people,” an eyewitness told Anadolu Agency.
According to witnesses, the driver was injured in the attack, for which no group has yet claimed responsibility.
Somalia has remained in turmoil since the ouster of President Siad Barre in 1991.
The al-Qaeda-linked Al-Shabaab group has been waging a years-long insurgency against the Mogadishu government.
The militant group, however, has recently suffered a string of blows, including the loss of most of its strongholds in southern and central Somalia to government and African Union forces.
Nevertheless, the group has continued to carry out deadly attacks on government officials and security personnel
